Jess & Lisa have received word today that their Anti-Fur PETA Campaign that was launched in Sydney yesterday has been officially banned in Australia. Show your support for Lisa & Jess’ Anti-Fur campaign by visitng FurIsDead.com, The Veronicas page on PETA, re-posting their campaign ad on your facebook & twitter to help raise awareness and you can also purchase the ‘Mean People Wear Fur’ T-Shirt here.

Here is what Jess had to say on Twitter about their campaign being banned:
“Just received a phone call that our PETA anti fur AD has been officially BANNED in Australia for being too confronting and offensive.. I think the inhumane & unacceptable reality of the FUR INDUSTRY is FAR more confronting and offensive, then giving the Australian public the right to the COLD HARD FACTS, of what these animals go through. My Generation is not an ignorant generation! We will not let the government censor COMPASSIONATE issues that are important in MY modern day society. I encourage everyone to go to FURISDEAD.COM and spread the word for those who can not speak up for themselves.”

Edit: After initial thoughts that the PETA campaign had been banned in Australia, reports today say that some Australian magazines are refusing to run the campaign or are censoring the ad by blurring out the graphic images of prop rabbit corpses.

After a long wait for us Veronicas fans, today Lisa & Jess have launched their Anti-Fur campaign in Sydney for PETA. Wearing matching tees with the slogan ‘Mean People Wear Fur’, the girls signed autographs and generally just looked gorgeous (as usual!), to help raise awareness for the Anit-Fur campaign.

As you’ll remember, a while back Jess and Lisa did a photoshoot for PETA. Check out this video of the girls talking about the fur-trade and boycotting fashion designers who still use fur. Jess and Lisa will also be making an appearance today at 1pm in Sydney to launch PETA’s new anti-fur campaign. You can find them outside the QVB.
